Mr. Schmitz is responsible for driving the vision, strategic direction, and growth of the Mesa platform and its various investment strategies.
Mr. Schmitz began his working career in 1995 after graduating from Texas A&M University. Mr. Schmitz and his brother, John Schmitz, formalized their partnership in 1997 as B-29 Investments, LP (“B-29”) and Schmitz & Schmitz Properties, Inc. Mr. Schmitz currently serves as President of B-29 and gives direction and oversight to both the private equity team in Dallas, TX and the family office in Gainesville, TX.
Prior accomplishments include the formation, build out, and sale of an energy-focused industrial real estate fund. The fund was formed in September 2011 as a private equity real estate fund based in Houston with a focus on net leased industrial properties leased to energy companies. The fund’s portfolio of 79 properties was sold to a REIT in July 2014. His role was Managing Partner and Investment Committee member.
Mr. Schmitz was also directly involved in the formation and build out of Allied Productions Solutions. Allied was formed in August 2005 as a fabrication and assembly company for surface production equipment for the oil and gas industry. After acquiring or organically starting four plants, Allied was recapitalized by SCF Partners in May 2010 and then combined with four other SCF companies to create Forum Energy Technologies, which went public in May 2012.
Mr. Schmitz currently sits on the board of directors of Merit Advisors, LLC and United Surface & Minerals, LLC.
